For years, Qualcomm was known as the chipmaker for mobile devices. However, the company does have some PC chipsets, albeit in the low-performance category. Now, sources suggest that Qualcomm could unveil another PC chipset at the upcoming Snapdragon Summit.

According to Videocardz, there's an upcoming Snapdragon X Elite SoC for PCs. The chipset is expected to have 12 high-performance 'Oryon' CPU cores, which puts it around the level of Intel's Core i7. It'll also have an Adreno GPU with up to 4.6 TFLOPs performance and triple 4K support. Other specs include support for LPDDR5X RAM, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and more.

Based on the specs, we can assume that this chipset isn't for regular PCs. First, it only has 4.6 TFLOPS of GPU performance, so it's not great for gaming. For reference, the Sony PS5's GPU delivers 10.3 TFLOPs of power. Next, the specs list mentioned 30 tokens per second for Large Language Models (LLM). LLMs are used for AI platforms like ChatGPT, so the chipset could be designed for AI developers.

Anyway, we're not sure whether it's a chipset for consumer devices yet. But we'll probably find out during the Snapdragon Summit 2023 beginning tomorrow. Of course, we'll help keep an eye on all Snapdragon updates during the event, so stay tuned to TechNave for further updates.
