Qualcomm has achieved a new technology breakthrough by announcing aptX Lossless today. The new audio feature will finally allow the ability to deliver CD-quality audio over Bluetooth. Therefore, the doubts regarding sound quality when comparing wired and wireless audio devices might have now come to an end.

According to Qualcomm, the feature is capable of delivering 16-bit.44.1kHz audio over Bluetooth. It is also part of the Snapdragon Sound technology alongside aptX Adaptive and Aqstic. The company stated that the aptX Lossless would "deliver sound the way the artist intended", which makes us even more exciting to get our hands on it. However, the audio devices that support the feature will only hit the shelves in early 2022.

Lossless audio has become quite a big deal nowadays with streaming services like Tidal and Apple Music offering the feature. Not only that, but it seems like users also care more about sound quality these days, as Qualcomm's 2021 State of Sound survey shows that "64% participants saying that lossless audio quality is likely to influence their decision to purchase wireless earbuds".
