Qualcomm announces new Snapdragon X Plus & Snapdragon X Elite for laptops

During the Snapdragon Summit event, Qualcomm Technologies announced a new Snapdragon X Series for laptops. Dubbed the Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Eliteit's expected that a few leading global OEMs will have their PCs powered by these chips starting mid-2024.  

Diving into the technicalities, the Snapdragon X Plus features the state-of-the-art Qualcomm Oryon CPU. It is a custom-integrated processor that delivers up to 37% faster CPU performance if compared to competitors which consumes up to 54% less power. This CPU Performance is based on GeekBench 2024 Multi-Thread on Windows 11 OS run in March 2024.

Designed to drive AI-optimised applications, the Snapdragon X Plus is also powered by the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU capable of 45 TOPS, making it the world’s fastest NPU for laptops. It can assist programmers by generating fresh code instantly via Visual Studio Code from Codegen, generating music in Audacity, and providing an automatic translation of 100 languages into live captions via Whisper on-device in real time. 

On the other hand, the Snapdragon X Elite was also designed to support AI and power-intensive tasks that include productivity, creativity and entertainment. It has a new custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU to deliver power efficiency, and from the words of Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Compute & Gaming, it will "enable seamless multitasking and new intuitive user experiencesfor both consumers and businesses.

It is unknown if some global OEMs will import their PCs with the new Snapdragon X Series to the Malaysian market. We will just have to wait and see when that happens if there are any official announcements. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
