Qualcomm could launch the Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset by Q3 2020

A new rumour has appeared, claiming that Qualcomm could be launching the Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset as early as Q3 2020. Back in 2018, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 855 chipset in December, before following up with the Plus version in July 2019. If Qualcomm follows this pattern, the Q3 2020 launch window could be true.

The source of the rumour is from a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station. In the post, the leakster claimed that the Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset is confirmed and its tentative launch window is sometime in Q3 2020. Engineering samples are expected as early as two months from now, which will allow smartphone manufacturers to start planning and developing new models based on it.

As a reminder, the Snapdragon 855 Plus is more or less a binned/overclocked version of the Snapdragon 855. It didn't really have any additional features aside from a faster CPU and GPU. But could Qualcomm add something this time, perhaps an integrated 5G modem? Let us know what you think on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
