Nintendo has been dominating the handheld gaming console market with the Nintendo Switch in the last few years. Its position hasn't been threatened so far, but that could change in the future. In fact, sources claim that Qualcomm has something in the works.

According to Android Police and Mishaal Rahman, Qualcomm is developing a handheld game console powered by Android and a Snapdragon chipset. The device is supposed to look very similar to the Nintendo Switch, except it looks like a "bulkier smartphone". On top of that, it also has two detachable controllers on the sides.

In terms of specs, the rumoured device will pack a 6000mAh battery, a 6.65-inch display, and an SD card slot. As for the software, it's supposed to run on a customised Android 12. Moreover, it's expected to support Google Play and have the Epic Games Store app. Qualcomm is allegedly targeting to launch the device in Q1 2022, which means it could feature the next flagship Snapdragon chipset.

Of course, there's always the chance that this prototype fails to work out. It really depends on how commercially viable the product would be. With that said, would you be interested in getting a device like that? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates about it.
