Qualcomm launches Snapdragon X processor for entry-level laptops

Qualcomm today introduced another laptop chip, the Snapdragon X. Designed for 'budget' laptops in the $600 (~RM2706) price range, the Snapdragon X sits below the X Plus and X Elite in the hierarchy, but offers no less impressive specs. It's arguably a slightly toned-down version of the Snapdragon X Plus.

However, Qualcomm still promises better performance per watt than the Intel Core 5 120U processor, as well as better battery life across various tests. Like the rest of the Snapdragon X series, this 'standard' Snapdragon X chip is equipped with a 45 TOPS NPU that supports Microsoft's Copilot+ feature.

Moreover, the Qualcomm Oryon CPU has eight cores that can reach speeds of up to 3GHz and is built on the same 4nm process node as the rest of the Snapdragon X series. Apart from that, the Snapdragon X also supports LPDDR5x RAM memory, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB 4.0 as well as 5G connectivity.

In addition, Qualcomm stated that full details about the "world's first mini desktop PC powered by the Snapdragon X series" will be revealed tomorrow. According to the company, more than 60 laptop designs are in production or development, with more than 100 laptops from major manufacturers including Asus, Acer, Dell Technologies, HP, and Lenovo expected to arrive by 2026.
