Qualcomm launches new Wi-Fi 7 RF front-end module, may feature in consumer devices later this year

Qualcomm has released a new RF front-end module which supports the next generation Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6E as well as Bluetooth. Made for use for a variety of devices including smartphones, automotive, XR extended reality, PC and more, the new RF module allows manufacturers to be more cost-effective by developing Wi-Fi devices quickly.

As reported by Chinese tech portal MyDrivers, the new RF front-end module also supports the coexistence of 5G and Wi-Fi and even compatible with Qualcomm’s utraBAW filters for 5G/Wi-Fi concurrency. Hence, manufacturers can utilise the module in combination with the following:

  • Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Wi-Fi 7/Bluetooth wireless connectivity system
  • Snapdragon 5G baseband
  • RF system for Qualcom Snapdragon platform-based devices
  • Third-party Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chipsets

Qualcomm said that currently, the modules are being sent to its customers for sampling and testing. As for the real product, it will officially arrive in the second half of 2022 and may feature in consumer devices by the end of the year.
