Most of us know that Qualcomm is currently preparing to launch the TSMC variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, namely Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. However, we didn't know that the semiconductor manufacturer is secretly working on another chip as well, and it's the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

According to the source, the chip will definitely bring improved performance, in terms of energy efficiency and wireless connectivity, compared to the previous 7 series chips. Chinese insiders have also revealed some information regarding the chip's architecture. It's said to be an advanced 4nm process technology that offers eight computing cores, which are located in two clusters - four Cortex A710 cores with a clock frequency of 2.36 GHz and Cortex A510, operating at a frequency of 1.8 GHz. Besides that, it should also pack the Adreno 662 for graphics processing.

Unfortunately, the source mentions that the chip will not be as powerful as you thought, and it's unlikely to surpass the Snapdragon 870 in performance. Of course, we might still have to wait until the second half of this year to find out about it, as the chip is expected to launch in that time frame. Before that happens, we should get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ earliest by May.
