When it comes to electronics, other than becoming more powerful there's always the option of becoming more compact. And it seems that's what Qualcomm wants to do with routers. The company has unveiled a new architecture for routers that can be powerful yet stay compact.

Qualcomm has announced the Immersive Home Platform, which consists of routers that support Gigabit-speed WiFi. One of them is a mesh network router that is the size of a palm, allowing you to deliver high-speed WiFi to your home or office without taking up much space. Part of the Qualcomm Immersive Home 210 series, this palm-sized router has WiFi 6 support for wider wireless coverage.

WiFi 6E opens up the 6GHz spectrum, which is less congested

There's also the more powerful Qualcomm Immersive Home 310 series, which is a tri-band mesh router that also supports WiFi 6E. In case you are unaware, WiFi 6E provides access to the 6GHz spectrum, which is separate from the more commonly used 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectrum. In other words, you can expect more stable wireless performance due to less network congestion.

If you have a large house or office, you'll probably benefit from having mesh routers, so this might be something you'd be interested in.
