In the US, Qualcomm Technologies today announced the launch of its latest addition to the Snapdragon 7-series lineup: the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Mobile Platform. This chipset was designed for mid-range mobile devices with several enhancements in multimedia, gaming and on-device AI.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is built with next-gen AI capabilities, supporting Generative AI and large language models (LLMs) to run directly on-device. A new feature includes stable diffusion image generation, a first in the 7-series, bringing content creation tools to users without relying on the cloud. Additionally, it incorporates select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, enhanced image processing and Snapdragon Sound technology.

On top of that, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is the first in the 7-series to support Qualcomm Expanded Personal Area Network (XPAN) technology, previously reserved for the premium 8-series. This means it allows for improved device-to-device connectivity and expanded ecosystem functionality.
According to Qualcomm, two smartphone manufacturers, HONOR and vivo will be the first early adopters of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. They are expected to debut later this month of May, marking a new era for powerful mid-range tier phones.
