If you were a child or teenager growing up during the mid-2010s, the name “Omegle” might ring a bell. That’s right, after 14 good years, Omegle has finally shut down. You might wonder, why?

For your information, Omegle is a video chat site that was launched in 2009. Before the video call feature, this was one of the most popular ways of chatting and conversing with people all over the world. However, all good things come to an end. So does Omegle.

According to the founder, Leif K Brookes, the cost of managing this platform and preventing its misuse has become overwhelming. That makes it financially and emotionally unsustainable to continue. As a result, Omegle’s operation stops after 14 years.

We have yet to confirm other details on this matter and how it will affect Malaysians in general. However, we will have to admit that as millennials, we will miss Omegle. Thank you for making our childhood and school years more memorable.
