When ASUS launched the ROG Ally in Malaysia, it was the Z1 Extreme model and there was no sign of the Z1 version. However, the ROG Ally Z1 variant has just been released in the US market at the price of $600. A quick trip to the official ASUS Malaysia website here will show the official price tag at RM2799.

To refresh your memory, the AMD Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme are the only things that are different between the two models. The Z1 Extreme processor features 8 cores, 16 threads, and up to 8.6 teraflops of graphics processing power, whereas the standard Z1 only has 6 cores and 12 processing threads, and up to 2.8 teraflops.

Nonetheless, both models support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution and AMD Radeon Super Resolution upscaling technologies. This applies the same for the rest of the tech specs such as the 16GB of LPDDR5 dual channel RAM and 512GB PCIe Gen 4 of storage, as well as a 7-inch 120Hz display and so on.

According to early previews, the ROG Ally Z1 model didn't really meet expectations in terms of performance and battery life. There's no word when ASUS Malaysia plans to import it here but if you're still interested in getting one, you can check out our own review of the ROG Ally (Z1 Extreme) right here.
