RapidKL: All ticket vending machines will not be in service throughout free ride period

RapidKL has clarified that customers using its services during the month-long free ride period will have to either use a Touch ‘n Go card or collect tokens at the respective station’s customer service office. This is because ticket vending machines in all of Rapid KL’s station will not be in service throughout the period.

Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that all public transportation services under RapidKL will be free of charge for one month starting from 16 June 2022. These include MRT, LRT, Bus Rapid Transit, monorail and RapidKL bus services are all free for commuters throughout the period.

However, commuters are still required to use tokens or their Touch ‘n Go cards for the aforementioned services, though no charge will be imposed for the latter. Tokens are required for those that are using RapidKL’s train services but do not have a Touch ‘n Go card. The tokens can be collected at the respective customer service office counters at each station.

Malaysians can also utilise the Touch ‘n Go function embedded on their Identification Cards for the free rides. However, do note that for children, MyKid do not have any Touch ‘n Go function.
