Red Magic, known for its high-performance gaming phones has released its latest model, the Red Magic 9S Pro series. The new phone aims to improve mobile gaming with the latest specs and smart AI features. The Red Magic 9S Pro and 9S Pro+ come with an improved chipset and cooling features.
This chipset is called Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version which is the version of the chip that runs its main CPU core at 3.4GHz and boosts the GPU to 1GHz. The Red Magic 9S Pro achieved an AnTuTu score of 2,369,542 points which is the highest for an Android device. That’s quite a good performance.
In addition, the renewed ICE 13.5 cooling system has a vapour chamber (10,182mm²) and a new cooling gel that reduces thermal resistance. Combined with a 22,000 RPM active cooling fan, this system can reduce the chipset temperature up to 19.5°C compared to 18°C for the original ICE 13 system used in the Red Magic 9 Pro and 9 Pro+.
Moreover, the 9S Pro uses a 6,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging that can fully charge in just 35 minutes while the 9S Pro+ uses a 5,500mAh battery with 165W charging that can fully charge in 16 minutes. The 9S Pro series is 8.9mm thick and weighs 229g. The screen uses a 6.8-inch OLED display (BOE Q9+), 1,116 x 2,480-pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh, 2,000Hz touch sampling rate and a 16MP selfie camera below the screen. There is a pair of 520Hz shoulder triggers.
Furthermore, it features a Wi-Fi 7, USB-C 3.2 and a 3.5mm audio jack with DTS:X Ultra certification. As for the rear camera, it is unchanged from its predecessor with a 50MP main sensor (1/1.57” GN5, lens with OIS) and a 50MP ultra-wide (JN1). Red Magic did not miss the opportunity to add AI features to the new Red Magic 9.5 OS. This includes Smart Navigator with real-time recommendations, AI Triggers, Sound Recognition for games and more. Other AI features include image enlargement, wallpaper, wallpaper generation, writing assistant, summary, search and forth.
Besides battery and charging, the differences between the regular Pro and Pro+ include different memory options with the 9S Pro having 12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage while the 9S Pro+ has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Red Magic 9S Pro+ also has a special edition with 24GB RAM and 16TB storage priced at CNY 7,000 ( ~RM4,535).
Both 9S Pro models will be sold in China with prices starting at CNY 4,800 ( ~RM3,110). We have yet to confirm other details on the Malaysia release date. However, we could expect it to arrive soon.
