Reddit has evolved by allowing users to get comments as search results for the very first time. With the update, when users search for something on the site, it is no longer restricted to the original posts, communities, and individual users.

Everything on Reddit has basically become searchable, including users, posts, and communities, and the purpose of making the changes is to refine the searches. The site has offered a scenario that it deems best explains the feature, read below:

"If someone wants to find a thread about the best locations in London, previously they would have to look through each post in the r/London community, browsing the comments to find it. Now, they can easily see all the different recommendations on the best places for high tea that people have shared in comments."

Besides adding those, the search relevance has also been improved. It's said that it'll be less restrictive in matching the user's query. With the change, it's able to bring a 60% increase in relevance of results. Furthermore, Reddit has also brought a new look for its search results page on desktop and mobile, offering a design that makes it easier to skim through results and find relevant information.
