The platform’s ambition was highlighted during Reddit’s Q2 2025 earnings report on 31 July 2025. CEO Steve Huffman stated that Reddit intends to become a go-to search destination by leveraging the richness of its user-generated discussions.
The platform currently sees over 70 million weekly users engaging with its traditional search feature, while Reddit Answers—launched in December 2024—has grown to 6 million weekly users.
Reddit Answers uses large language models to surface information from across Reddit communities in a natural language format. By combining this tool with traditional search results, Reddit aims to provide more contextual, nuanced answers to user queries.
Financially, Reddit’s second quarter of 2025 marked its most successful period since going public in March 2024. Revenue rose by 78 percent year-over-year to USD500 million (around RM2340000), while net income hit USD89 million—indicating the platform's growing profitability and capacity for expansion.
With increasing public interest in authentic, conversational search experiences, Reddit believes its vast database of real user conversations offers an advantage over AI-generated content.
