
Recently, Xiaomi released the Redmi 12 5G in India 2 days ago. This also marks the global debut of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. Interestingly, POCO will also release the POCO M6 Pro soon. You might notice these two devices look familiar, that’s because the M6 Pro is a rebrand of the Redmi 12.
Thanks to the latest SoC, phone makers can make cheaper phones with impressive 5G capabilities. Plus, POCO India released a teaser for the new M6 Pro on Twitter. According to POCO, the phone is scheduled for release this 5 August 2023.Moreover, the phone could sport a black bar across the camera island. If you are a POCO fan, you would recognise this signature styling element of the POCO brand.

The Redmi 12 5G also shares its codename Sky with other rebrands. That includes the Redmi Note 12R and the POCO M6 Pro 5G. For your information, Devices with shared codenames share a lot of similarities in their specifications but may have minor regional differences. These differences are usually limited to exterior design. But, it can also be in the form of minor spec points and storage and memory configurations.
As a sub-brand of Xiaomi, POCO has consistently adopted this rebranding method. The best part? Since this product is sold online, you can get it at a lower price. Furthermore, Himanshu Tandon, POCO’s CEO, has announced the brand is collaborating with Reliance Jio for the release of the POCO M6 Pro 5G. In contrast, there is no such collaboration for the Redmi 12 5G. As of now, we have yet to confirm further details on this collaboration. But we could expect more news to be revealed on launch day.
