Redmi is set to release a new affordable smartphone soon, potentially its first in its price range in 2024. This is after the device, the Redmi A3 was listed getting certification by India’s SIRIM-equivalent, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Spotted by reliable tipster Sanju Choudhary who shared his findings on X, the A3 was granted certification by BIS on 15 December. Furthermore, it looks like the device would come in several variants as there are 4 model numbers listed under it.
Specifically, the device with model number 23129RN51H is the first being spotted under BIS, meaning that it may be a new variant specific to India.
The other model numbers were spotted in other countries’ certification bodies, including NBTC, IMDA and EEC. Therefore, its launch seems to be imminent.
