Redmi K50 Gaming release: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 120Hz display, pop-up shoulder buttons, and more from ~RM2179

Last week, teasers from Redmi confirmed that the K50 Gaming would be launched this week. This device was intended to be a more affordable gaming smartphone, one with a design that's inspired by sports cars. The phone was launched in China yesterday, so let's take a look.

As revealed on Weibo, The Redmi K50 Gaming is a flagship-class gaming smartphone with powerful hardware. It comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, up to 12GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage. For the screen, Redmi went with a 6.67-inch OLED panel that has a refresh rate of 120Hz, 480Hz touch sampling rate, DCI-P3 colour gamut, and HDR10+ support. The 4700mAh battery isn't too impressive, but it does have support for 120W fast charging.

In terms of cameras, the Redmi K50 Gaming comes with a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, and 2MP macro camera at the back. as for the front, there's a 20MP front camera for your selfie needs. The phone also comes with JBL speakers, a dual vapour chamber, pop-up shoulder buttons, multi-function NFC, and more.

Besides that, the company also introduced a Mercedes-AMG Petronas-themed Formula One Edition. This is a limited edition of the Redmi K50 Gaming that comes in a grey body with cyan accents. Specifically, the accents form the X on the back of the phone and serve as notification lights.
