Just recently, the Redmi K80 was released in China, and it had a few nice upgrades compared to its predecessor. Although it uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the battery is the best highlight feature of them all, going from 5,000mAh to 6,550mAh (with 80W fast charging).
While it has a 6.67-inch display, the features on it are impressive for a mid-range tier device, sporting a 3,200 x 1,440 pixels resolution, 3,200nits peak brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate and 2560Hz PWN Dimming technology. On top of that, it also supports HDR10+, HDR Vivid and Dolby Vision.
In terms of cameras, the dual rear camera setup consists of a 50MP (OIS main) and an 8MP (ultrawide) sensor utilised by Xiaomi's AI computational photography system. The main camera is capable of recording video up to 8K@24FPS, while the 20MP front camera can only record up to 1080p@60FPS.
As for the other tech specs, the Redmi K80 has multiple memory variants equipped with LPDDR5x and UFS 4.0 technology. Below are the prices for each model:
- 12GB + 256GB - 2,499 Yuan (~RM1.5K)
- 12GB + 512GB - 2,699 Yuan (~RM1.6K)
- 16GB + 256GB - 2,899 Yuan (~RM1.7K)
- 16GB + 512GB - 3,199 Yuan (~RM1.9K)
- 16GB + 1TB - 3,599 Yuan (~RM2.2K)
The Redmi K80 may be renamed whenever Xiaomi exports it to overseas markets such as Malaysia. We think there is a good chance that it may arrive here but until then, we just have to wait for an official announcement by Xiaomi Malaysia.
