Redmi is now a brand of its own

Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, unveiled Redmi’s new logo yesterday, announcing their plans on making Redmi a brand of its own instead of a line of smartphones under Xiaomi. The logo was a simple circle with the words “Redmi by Xiaomi”. The “Little King Kong” or rather, the Redmi Note 7 will be the first smartphone to debut under the Redmi brand which will be unveiled at an event tomorrow which is already teased sporting the new logo on its back.

The Redmi Note 7 may sport a 6.3-inch display with a waterdrop notch, a rear fingerprint scanner, 4GB/6GB RAM, a dual setup rear camera with 48MP + 12MP sensors, a 3900mAh battery which comes with a 10W charger. Redmi’s latest smartphones carry a gradient paint job on the back with a double-sided 2.5D glass. Other tech specs and features have not been revealed so far.

On Weibo, Lei Jun stated that Xiaomi does not believe there will there will be any competition between the two brands as the pricings for both brands are good and reasonable. This move separates Xiaomi’s flagship phones under the Redmi brand and this will be Xiaomi’s third sub-brand, with the other two being the Pocophone and the Black Shark gaming phones.
