Redmi to launch new smartphone with 210W fast charging

Smartphone brands have been pushing charging speeds in recent years. Last year, we even saw the launch of the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition, which could charge at 210W! This phone never came to Malaysia, but we might get a chance with the next 210W Redmi phone.

According to the source, Redmi will launch a new phone with 210W fast charging this year. For your info, this charging speed is possible thanks to a 3-charging IC system. This means that instead of using one charging chip, th phone uses three to manage the charging of its dual battery. As a result, the device will be able to charge from 0 to 100% in 9 minutes.

Specifically, this second generation model will divide the input current into three 20V/3.5A channels (70W). The chips will then step down the 3-channel output to a lower voltage of 10V but at 7A, before recombining them into a 10V/21A output for the two batteries. Going for a lower voltage level with higher amperage isn't surprising here, as this would help reduce heat and avoid possibly damaging the charger or batteries.

Currently, there's no confirmation on the identity of this phone. For all we know, it could be the Redmi Note 13 Explorer Edition or a completely new model. Regardless, do you think 210W fast charging is something you need? Please share your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
