Redmi officially revealed its all-new 300W fast charging technology today, the first of its kind and the fastest in the world. Capable of fully recharging a smartphone in 5 minutes, the technology beats the 240W charging found on the realme GT Neo 5.
Taking to its official Weibo page, Redmi showed off the charging technology in action through a video of a test on the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition. The device’s 4100mAh was fully recharged in just under 5 minutes, with the video also showcasing the power usage throughout the testing.
According to MyFixGuide, Redmi’s parent company Xiaomi’s official data revealed that the peak power of the charger can reach up to 290W. Furthermore, power above 280W can last for 2 minutes to charge the phone to 50%.
Redmi claimed that the 300W charger can charge up to 10 per cent in just 43 seconds, 50 per cent in 2 minutes and 100 per cent in 5 minutes. The technology utilises a self-developed 300W fast-charging architecture with a full link.
It involves a customised 6:2 charge pump chip on the original device’s charging architecture, while the chip’s max conversion efficiency is as high as 98 per cent. Currently, the 300W charging is not included in any official devices as of yet, though it may be included in Redmi or Xiaomi smartphones in the near future.
