Regular iPhone 15 models may miss out on high refresh rate and always-on display features again

The upcoming iPhone 15 lineup by Apple will reportedly retain the spec differences between the Pro and non-Pro models as the iPhone 14 series in the display department. In other words, the vanilla iPhone 15 models are set to miss out on ProMotion and always-on display again.

As reported by MacRumors, industry sources as per news aggregator account yeux1122 on Naver blog revealed that only the iPhone 15 Pro models will be getting LTPO panels. Allowing for adaptive refresh rates from 1 to 120Hz, these LTPO panels are what makes ProMotion and always-on display possible on the iPhone.

Hence, for the third year in a row, the vanilla iPhone would miss out on high refresh rate displays since ProMotion was introduced in the iPhone 13 Pro series. Given that even affordable Android smartphones these days have high refresh rate panels, this is quite the bummer for those that are planning to get the vanilla iPhone 15.
