If you are in the gaming community, chances are your fellow gamers would tell you that getting a physical copy is much better than a digital copy. However, a new Year in Number 2022 by GameIndustry.biz says otherwise, as it's the total opposite.

In the new year-end report, data analysis company Newzoo and many others provided some interesting insights on the gaming industry this year. In terms of physical vs digital game copies revenue, the latter dwarfed it by almost 10 times with $173.8 billion against $10.7 billion. For console gaming, digital copies lead by a wide percentage of 72% vs 28% but it's even worst for PC with 98% vs 2%.

That being said, the console market has only included figures from Sony and Microsoft for their PlayStation and Xbox games. So this leaves out Nintendo but the number of digital copies could be much higher if the company did provide digital sales. As a gamer myself, getting a digital copy is much more convenient as well is cheaper during promotional periods.

Other than that, the infographics also provided other interesting details. This includes best-selling boxed games of the year for the United Kingdom, Japan and the US, the most highly and lowest rated game on Metacritic, the most viewed game trailers and many others. You can check them out right over here
