Riding Pink brings ride-hailing services a more feminine feel

We have Uber and GrabCar here in Malaysia but there are security concerns for solo female riders riding along with unknown drivers on the road. Hence why a new company aims to challenge precisely that problem. Riding Pink is the first female-only ride-sharing service in Malaysia, possibly the world.

Launched on 10th October, the service is the brainchild of Denise Tan, who started the company in response to hearing reports of unscrupulous drivers preying on solo female passengers on the news. Not only the service opens a new way for women transport services in Malaysia, it has created job opportunities for stay-at-home mothers as they can drive for Riding Pink part time while also going on with their daily lives.

Riding Pink currently has 60 full-time drivers, and 40 part-time drivers who would drive after work as well as on weekends. Ladies can book for a ride by messaging Riding Pink’s Facebook page, or directly sending a WhatsApp message to them. They just need to send a pick-up and drop-off point and Riding Pink will provide the respective fare. Upon confirmation, Riding Pink will then provide driver and rider their respective contact information.
