For those who don't know, the League of Legends: Wild Rift mobile game was made by Riot Games and the company is going to sue Moonton Technology again. Although this has happened before, the suing is due to Moonton's "blatant copying" Wild Rift features into its own Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
According to Reuters, the lawsuit consists of Moonton "infringing copyrights in several elements of the game and its promotional materials". The company claimed Mobile Legends were copying and imitating new features from Wild Rift whenever Riot Games updates the mobile game from time to time. This includes the user interface, characters' design, skills, accessories and even promotional materials of Wild Rift.
Riot Games first sued Moonton back in 2017 for the same reason but compared with the League of Legends PC game instead. It didn't see much progress afterwards because the court thought the case would do better in China. At the moment of posting this, Moonton and ByteDance, its parent company have no comment nor response on the lawsuit.
Mobile Legends Bang Bang has been enjoying its success over the years and has even beaten Arena of Valor out of the Malaysian mobile gaming scene. The mobile game has been downloaded more than 500 million times from the Google Play Store alone. We aren't sure if this will have any proceedings but if there are any, you'll be the first to know on TechNave.com.
