Recently, Roblox launched two dedicated accounts for players under 16, as well as improved controls for parents and guardians who want to monitor their children's activities in this popular game. So, what should you know about it?
Various accounts for various age groups
For your information, the first account is Roblox Kids, for players aged 5–8 years old, providing access to games rated Minimal or Mild. By default, all messaging and communication features are turned off, and an interface with a different background colour is provided.
Additionally, Roblox Select were launched for players ages 9-15 with game settings rated Moderate. Messaging settings remain the same, and there are also different visuals to indicate account type. Accounts automatically change to standard accounts once players reach the age of 16 and above.
For users aged 16 and above, age verification is required before they can access content with a more mature age rating. Both accounts will launch starting in early June 2026. Meanwhile, parents and guardians can block certain games up to the age of 15, manage chat settings up to the age of 15, and approve certain games that are not available according to the child's account default settings.
Moreover, the introduction of accounts for children and teenagers by Roblox is to comply with the requests of several countries, including Malaysia, which want to prevent access to video games and social media for underage users.
