The Apple MacBook Pro is turning 7 years old, with the current generation launched about a year ago. It is the right time for the model to be refreshed or made anew, and the rumours speculating about the next model are fantastic. We may see a thinner model in the works, along with a touch-sensitive OLED panel at the top of the keyboard, as part of the refresh.

New 13 inch and 15 inch models will be revealed in the later half of 2016, but internal wise we have to see. Intel is set to announce new stuff at the upcoming Computex tradeshow in Taiwan, so we may see new mobile processors there. Or Apple may just go ahead and use the current Intel 6th generation Core processors. Other innovations may include Touch-ID on the MacBook Pro, and the butterfly switch keys for the keyboard – first introduced in the MacBook.

For connectivity we may see Thunderbolt 3 with USB-C featured heavily in the new model as the main connectivity option. Knowing Apple, we may just see some older ports relegated to legacy status. We will wait for the announcement from the Cupertino-based company soon enough.
