Right now, early-adopters of Google Glass are running about recording everything and trying out the $1500 Google Glass Explorer Edition, but while Google have said a more affordable version is going to be produced they have yet to sat when exactly that may be. This particular information may have been inadvertantly revealed in a quote from Eric Schmidt, Google's Executive Chairman. See this quote below:

  • "It's fair to say that thousands of these will be in use by developers over the next months, and then based on their feedback we will make some product changes, and it's probably a year-ish away," said Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman, Google.

He also commented on Google Glass's impact on privacy:

  • "The fact of the matter is we'll have to develop some new social etiquette. It's obviously not appropriate to wear these glasses in situations where recording is not correct, and indeed you have this problem already with phones. Companies like Google have a very important responsibility to keep your information safe. You have responsibility as well to understand what you are doing and how you are doing it and obey appropriately and also keep everything up to date," added Schmidt.

In related news, it was recently revealed that Google Glass runs on Android 4.0.3 and that it may have wink-triggered photography abilities. While the glasses do take pictures on voice command, some lines in the code of Google Glass reveal that it does have the option to control pictures by winking. No idea yet how they'll refine this down or whether it was disabled due to excessive blinking, but it may solve the problems of framing a picture before taking a shot. Stay tuned for further developments.
