Rumours coming from the Wall Street Journal indicate that the Android-powered Nokia X or Nokia Normandy smartphone is expected to be announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress or MWC expo 2014. Apart from using a fork of Android utilizing Nokia apps like Here Maps and Nokia Mix Radio tech specs are estimated to be rather entry level. These tech specs include a dual-core Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB storage, a 4-inch display and both microSD and dual-SIM support. The overall design will follow those of current Lumia phones and feature a number of colourful polycarbonate backsides. While the Nokia X may look like a Windows phone, complete with a seemingly similar LiveTiles interface, the operating system is undoubtedly Android. Based off of Android 4.1, all of the official apps are available on the Nokia Store, but as mentioned before, you can install Android Apps. According to Nokia, you can do this through third-party markets, and like any other Android device you can also download or transfer the apps .apk file and install it directly. Here is a short guide on how to do that. All you have to do is follow these steps:
- Download or transfer the .apk file to the Nokia X or microSD card
- Open your file manager
- Find the .apk file of the app you want to install
- Tap on the .apk file
- Tap install
