The previous news are true – we will see Nokia branded devices running Android really soon. Nokia Technologies revealed today that it has given exclusive global license to HMD Global, a startup company based out of its own home country of Finland. At the same time, Microsoft has confirmed the sale of their feature phone business that carries the license to the name Nokia, to Foxconn’s subsidiary FIH Mobile for USD 350 million.

The two companies – HMD Global and FIH Mobile has entered into an agreement deal that will see them collaborate to operate, sell, market and distribute Nokia smartphones globally. In a nutshell, Nokia is back in the smartphone business.

A statement by the company confirms that the upcoming Nokia devices – smartphone and tablets – will be running Android from the get go. Thanks to Foxconn’s knowhow in manufacturing and shipment, and the ex-Nokia staff currently in HMD Global, we can be assured that the quality of the upcoming devices can be similar or equal of the Nokias of the yesteryears.
