So, “news” just came in that the rumoured 5.8-inch Apple iPhone 8 model will be the third variant for the 10th anniversary iPhone this year, along with some sweet tech-specs and a new rumoured 3D facial feature too.

According to TrendForce, a Chinese research firm, the third iPhone 8 variant will feature a 3GB RAM + 64GB and 256GB internal storage. It’s also the only iPhone to adapt an edge-to-edge OLED display in a curved 2.5D cover glass fashion, as well as removing the home button and feature a speculated 3D facial recognition for security purpose.

Speaking of using 3D recognition, it’s said to be “revolutionary” front camera using PrimeSense (a company that Apple acquired in 2013) algorithms, with an integration of three modules that enable fully-featured 3D sensing capabilities. This actually goes in line with popular iPhone analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo in his reports, in fact, he said the new front camera system "will bring an innovative user experience" to the OLED iPhone 8, but for now it'll be reserved as exclusive to that model. Future iPhones may come with a similar system for the rear camera.".

Not much is known about the technology, but it’s said there are three modules inside the front camera - an existing front camera module, an infrared transmitting module, and an infrared receiving module, which is obviously used for facial scanning.
