According to CLSA, an equity research firm from Hong Kong, the Apple iPhone 8 will be featuring a wireless charging and Touch ID located behind, as well as an enhanced receiver and improved stereo sound and water resistant quality.

Touch ID on the back? Sounds like what Huawei and Samsung (on the S8 series) are already doing. Initially, what we have heard from the rumours so far is having them switching back and forth on the front or the back. And get this, according to this schematic design, the Touch ID will be placed on the Apple logo behind. Here’s what the research note by CLSA analysts Sebastian Hou and Brian Chen said:

"iPhone to ditch fingerprint sensor? We don’t think so. Both Samsung and Apple tried to enable in-display fingerprint sensing on full-screen OLED phones in 2017, but their optical tech seems immature and the major iPhone 8 bottleneck. Some thus speculate the fingerprint sensor will be removed and replaced by 3D sensing. Our latest supply chain checks indicate the iPhone 8 will still have the sensor given security, user-friendliness, and a need for payments infrastructure, but there is a high chance it will be on the back like Samsung's Galaxy S8."

Meanwhile, we also got a new research note from JPMorgan analysts, who are checking out the enhanced receiver and improved stereo sound and water resistant grade. The iPhone 7 series already has a pair of good stereo speakers on the receiver and bottom (from our experience), and it’s rumours to be two times better in the iPhone 8 with increased dynamic range. As for the water resistant feature, it will be better and rumours to go even deeper of 1.5m under water.

So what do you think? I think the Touch ID on the Apple logo is a cool idea. Stay tuned for more Apple news at TechNave.com.
