So what’s next about the 10th Anniversary iPhone rumour? According to a report over the weekends, it seems that Apple is set out to develop a completely new fingerprint ID technology in their OLED iPhone 8, and get this, it’s said to be their own instead of other suppliers.

The report, which originated from DigiTimes claimed that Apple’s upcoming “built-in fingerprint sensor device” will be replacing the Touch ID with a radical redesign, and it will be a virtual home button embedded under the display. To add on to that, the company is not using their supplier - Synaptics nor Qualcomm’s fingerprint ID technology, as they have decided to use their own “Authentec algorithm combined with Privaris glass identification technology technology to redesign a new fingerprint ID solution”.

Aside from the revamped fingerprint ID, another rumour has it that Apple might also introduce a new biometric security for facial and iris scanning, or possibly even mixing the two together with the fingerprint ID.

Like more media news outlets there, Digitimes don’t have a 100% record of predicting the right outcome of Apple rumours, so do take this with a grain of Apple salt. Stay tuned for more Apple news at TechNave.com.
