So here we go again, we just go some news report from Fast Company, about Apple's supplier Dialog Semiconductor recent investment deal with a company called Energous, which deals with developing wireless charging technology. Yup, another rumour news of Apple's wireless technology.

“We’re actually transferring all of our silicon operations to Dialog,” says Energous CEO Steve Rizzone. “All the Energous technology will be sold under the Dialog branding and all sales orders will be going through Dialog. It’ll take us about 90 days to do all that,” Rizzone said.

While this seems like a normal business thing going on, but it's quite a big deal. First, there were already reports of Energous and Apple working together since February this year, it's also noted that Energous has been working with a "tier 1" smartphone manufacturer. So with all the Energous technology going under Dialog (note, one of Apple's suppliers), it's quite possible to see a futuristic wireless charging technology to be featured on the 10th Anniversary iPhone next year.

Speaking of wireless charging, Energous has also come up a way for devices to be charged wirelessly from 15 feet away, which is very impressive. How they accomplish this was positioning a base station, and a tiny chip inside the device that can connect with the base station, then be charged through the air.

Furthermore, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also believes "one of the reasons why new iPhones will switch from metal casing to glass casing is to support wireless charging,”

“In order to ensure a superior performance, we believe it is most appropriate for EMS suppliers to develop and make the wireless charger because then a comprehensive test can be conducted. As Hon Hai needs to deploy most resources to develop and produce OLED iPhone, we expect Pegatron will be the exclusive supplier of the wireless charger.” he said.

iPhone 8 is still several months away, but this can be a game changer and breakthrough for wireless charging should Apple succeed. Stay tuned for more Apple news at Technave.com.
