According to a new report today by Commercial Times from Taiwan, Lite-On Semiconductor was chosen by Apple to provide them an integrated chip that is to be the next big thing of fast wireless charging.

As you may already know, many speculation news are saying that Apple is secretly working on a long-range wireless charging technology that doesn’t need to be at a charging dock. One way of doing so, as “proposed” by Energous is to use OTA (over-the-air) charging technology by putting on a tiny add-on rectifier on the device, and a wireless charger plugged at the wall.

To add on to that, Commercial Times further said the rectifier will reduce overheating from the thermal and maintaining the wireless power transmission at the same time.

It’s also interesting to note that Lite-On Semiconductor’s share price on the Taiwan Stock Exchange has rallied to 10% limit daily, as they have “obtained half of the orders for GPP bridge rectifiers that will be used in the wireless charger for the upcoming iPhonesas quoted by Commercial Times.
