We are anticipating for August 2nd as that will be the date for when the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expected to be launched and with it, confirmation on the specs that we have seen so far. A new patent that was recently seen online shares how the iris scanner is supposed to work on the phone.
According to the patent, “the iris recognition system employs three lenses to capture the image signal, and then checks the iris of the user based on the image generated as well as other information.” This other information will also include images of the user’s face for additional identification.
The drawback of having an iris scanner is that the system will take an extra second to confirm the pattern, and that is a long time considering modern fingerprint scanners these days can unlock a phone under half a second. Even so, it is another great safety measure to have in your smartphone – plus every time you want to unlock the phone, you will feel like James Bond.
