Rumours: FitBit is looking to buy Pebble?

A report online is stating that FitBit, one of the world’s biggest fitness tracker manufacturer, is in talks in purchasing the wearable company Pebble. This news comes on the heel of reports where the latter had to lay-off 25% of its workforce recently.

The report says that the purchase price of the deal is in the region of USD40 million (~RM ) – a far cry from previous offers that has been made to Pebble before. This amount is said just enough for the startup company to help pay off its suppliers

The Pebble line of devices has been a favourite among users as it is easy to use, platform agnoistic and has a long battery life per charge. The report states Fitbit is buying the company to get access to its technologies and intellectual properties, including its operating system – so there is the chance that the brand will go like the dodo once the deal is done.
