A report online is suggesting that the biggest social network platform is possibly in the midst of building their own smartphone for the world market. While Facebook linked smartphone is not new (see the HTC ChaCha), the possibility of the company building a device from the ground up is getting higher and higher.

No concrete information of the device has yet to be released or leaked, but Facebook has made some hire that is hinting on the news. Ex Project Ara enginners has been recruited by Facebook and now is working for Building 8 – a skunk-works-like division under Google. There they join other recruits from companies like Motorola, Apple and Amazon, as well as some ex Googlers. No one has come forth with information, but the ideas circulating around the internet is that the group in Building 8 is developing something modular, and something mobile.

Will we see something like the HTC ChaCha, a customised modular product like the stillborn Project Ara, or will it be something developed around an existing product with add-ons to enhance the capabilities? We have to wait and see – so stay tuned to TechNave as we bring more news on the Facbook phone.
