The standard ratio for smartphones has always been the 16:9 ratio for the past few years. Even as the screen goes larger and the resolution goes higher – the ratio still stays the same. LG however may be going a different route, as they are said to be using a new screen of their LG G6, which has a 18:9 screen resolution.

LG Display announced that they have produced a new screen with a QHD+ resolution (1440 x 2880) and also confirmed that the screen will be used in LG’s next flagship, which is most likely the LG G6. The panel is a 5.7-inch display, with a 564 pixels per inch resolution – which LG Display says will deliver a more immersive viewing experience”. Also the screen is great for dual-screen multitasking – a feature in Android 7.0. Furthermore, the screen is super responsive thanks to the inTOUCH technology that results in very minimal delay between screen touch and device response. Lastly, LG promises the screen will consume 30% less power.

The screen may first feature on LG’s own device, but we may see more companies using this new screen ratio as to allow more interesting experiences to be made and felt on their smartphones. Stay tuned to TechNave for more LG G6 news.
