A new report states that next year’s LG G6 will be sans Friends, or what LG call their modular products. This revelation is not surprising, as the modular market has been small and niche since the beginning.
The LG Friends were meant to expand the usability of the G5 as a phone, with new features such as better audio, better camera experience and so on. The removable bottom of the phone facilitates this upgrade and because of this, the phone gains and loses functionality – it gain a removable battery, with the loss of water resistance. The next iteration in the line will most likely see the removal of this function and we may even see a trickle down of function from the larger LG V20 to the line.
