As part of their next wave of product announcement, MediaTek is currently designing a new mid-tier processor for its helio range. The new Helio P35 is said to have a deca-core CPU, with two Cortex-A73 64-bit cores clocked to 2.2GHz for heavy processing work.

The GPU in this SoC will be the Mali G71, which promises 20% better power efficiency, and 40% better performance density. However the SoC itself is said to only support 1080p display – so no 4K display using this chipsets.

It will support up to 10GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and has a Cat 10 LTE modem with a max download speed of up to 450Mbps. There is also UFS2.1 support, and MediaTek’s Pump Express 3.0 fast charging technology.

We should be seeing this chipset arrive on smartphones by the third quarter of 2017, a quarter later than Qualcomm’s 660 SoC. However this may be a good thing because manufacturers will have longer lead-time to develop their smartphone with this new chipset. Look forward to our coverage of the new smartphones, here on TechNave.
