As reported previously, the upcoming Motorola Moto X 2016 seems to feature two rows of external contact points that may be used for possible dock accessories. A new source online reveals that the new Moto X range will actually be two different phones.

It will start with the Moto X Vertex – the follow up to last year's Moto X Play. It is reported to feature a 5.5-inch FHD AMOLED display, a 2.4Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, a choice of either 2GB RAM and 16GB of on-board storage or 3GB RAM and 32GB of on-board storage combinations, and a 16-megapixel rear camera with laser auto focus and phase detection auto focus. It is also reported to have a 3500 mAh battery.

The next model is the Moto X Vector Thin, the successor to the Moto X Style. It will also have a 5.5-inch display, this time using a QHD AMOLED panel, a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage, and a 13-megapixel rear camera with laser auto focus and optical image stabilization. It will be thinner than the Vertex, but this slim look means that it can only fit a 2800mAh battery.

The two phones will reportedly support add-ons via the 16-pinout connection, with possible add-ons including battery, camera control, and even external projectors. To be named as "Amps", these add-ons will be from Motorola, as well as third party companies.

We will be checking out for news of the Moto X regularly, as the design and feature combination looks like a winner to us. Stay tuned to TechNave for more news.
