Rumours: New 3GB RAM increase for upcoming Apple iPhone 7s

So according to Cowen and Company analyst, Timothy Arcuri (who by the way, is one of those reliable Apple leakers like KGI Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo), said that the upcoming three new Apple iPhones will be coming in 3GB RAM. Anyway, here’s quote from the man himself:

"In terms of memory/storage configuration, all three models will likely adopt 3GB RAM; the 4.7”/5.5” will likely have the same storage options as the current iPhone 7/7+ in 32/128/256GB while the 5.8” model looks to be only offered in two memory configurations: 64GB and 256GB. Finally, the 5.8” model will likely have extended battery life with two packs of batteries."

Mind you that the iPhone 7 Plus does have the 3GB RAM already, so that actually leaves the upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone 7s to be the only one who’s getting the upgrade. Also, the statement kind of contradicts previous rumours about it, since according to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, they said the iPhone 7s will remain as 2GB RAM, while the other two will be using 3GB RAM.

But what does an increase in RAM mean for the iPhone? Well for newbies, it improves the iPhone’s memory and also storing more data. If this is true, customers will be quite happy to know that they won’t need to spend extra bucks for higher RAM power, yet using the same 4.7-inch display.

In addition, there is another thing that is consistent, which is the fact that the 2017 iPhones will be using Lightning connectors with USB Type-C.
