We have been talking on how 2017 will be Samsung’s launch year for their foldable smartphone but we have yet to see any real life examples on how they will implement it. OPPO just leapt over the competition as they have a working prototype running – and they have video too!

From the images and video, it looks like the phone will have a square-shape design – something like the LG Vu. However, it has a clamshell-design, which when opened, reveals a larger screen inside that looks to be around 7 inches, if we are estimating correctly.  You can check out the video here (as the video doesn’t have any embed option).

Also with the foldable screen, it is reported that the phone will have OPPO's VOOC charger technology, which allows the phone to recharge its battery in a jiffy. The reports say that the prototype phone charged from 7% to 57% in about 5 minutes!

We will have to wait and see if the phone will go beyond prototype stage, but if it does, it would be a game changer in the smartphone industry.
