The Google developer event, Google I/O will be happening next week in California, and a report has surfaced that among the new products, codes and features that will be announced at the conference is something called 'Android VR'.

Posts online states that the item will be a stand-alone product, akin to the Samsung Gear VR or the HTC Vive. It will be powered by Android, although will it involve a smartphone or not is still up for debate.

There are also mentions online that 'Android VR' was referenced in the Unreal Engine code, so we may see high-end 3D games featured with the upcoming device. At the same time, there are mentions of a possible control device alongside the goggles when they are introduced to the world.

We will have to wait for Google I/O to see if all of these will be true, but if it is – the time for VR may be at hand.
