Just in from the rumour mill is that Samsung will soon be releasing a phablet called the Samsung Galaxy Mega and the new Galaxy Tab 3 Plus. The Samsung Galaxy Mega rumour mentions that it will release two models under this naming convention with the separate model numbers of GT-I9200 for a 6.3-inch version and the GT-I9152 for a 5.8-inch version with dual SIM support. Other rumours surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Mega models is that they may lack S Pen capabilities and have slightly lowered features in the same way like the Samsung Galaxy Grand.

Possible Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Plus on the other hand looks to be a 10-inch refresh with 3 different models going by the GT-P8200, GT-P8210 and GT-P8220. Other tech specs for the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus include:

  • Samsung Exynos 5410 Octa Processor (4 x 1.6GHz ARM-Cortex A15 + 4 x 1.2GHz ARM-Cortex A7)
  • 2GB of DDR3 RAM
  • 32GB and 64GB storage
  • 9000 mAh battery
  • 10.055-inch screen (2560×1600, 300PPI)
  • 8MP rear camera (with AF) + 2MP front camera (with AF)
  • IR Blaster

Samsung have been known to provide a model for practically every niche, so the rumour about the Samsung Galaxy Mega looks to be likely. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 should come out in early June while the Galaxy Mega 6.3 should come out in the middle of June 2013 and afterwards for Malaysia. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Plus on the other hand sounds to be more of a hoax or April Fool's Prank (perhaps because the news came out around 1 April 2013). While the tech specs for the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus are believable (don't seem too far off) the design shown in the picture doesn't look like any Tab we've seen (physical button, etc.). Like every rumour always take each news with a healthy dose of disbelief.
