A new patent that was filed by Samsung suggest that not only the company is hard at work making flexible screen displays, they are also seems to incorporate proven technologies used in new ways for their upcoming designs.

The patent features a smart device that is folded like a book, with the display sitting inside of the device, but can be rearranged to have one edge stick out – just like how the curved screen on the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge works. The filings suggest that Samsung is intending to use biometric sensors such as fingerprint/iris scanners on the devices to prevent the units from being opened or unscrolled until unlocked.

This new design patent is great, if Samsung ever comes around to create a real product with this design. We may not see anything like this in this year, but we may see it by next year. So stay tuned to TechNave for more news from Samsung.
