We are still looking and waiting for the foldable smartphone to come to fruition. We expect Samsung to be the first company to bring the foldable smartphone to the market – but according to a new patent filed by them, we may see a foldable tablet first instead.

The patent shows the tablet foldable into three sections, and when the tablet is unfurled we get a large display for media consumption. What makes this mode unique is that there is a bulilt-in stand at the back of the display that serves as, well, a stand, and this stand is integrated into the body of the tablet itself, not an additional case. The keyboard meanwhile can be flipped onto the tablet, creating a ‘notebook’ mode for some productivity work. For portability – the three sections folds into each other to be smaller, and that’s about it.

While this is a filed patent, it doesn’t mean that the company will be bringing the product into the market, or if they did – it could be far removed from the patent we see here. What do you think – does this product excites you? Stay tuned to TechNave as we bring more Samsung news.
